Victoria Cross: Nov 5, 1854 at the Battle of Inkerman, Private Thomas Beach, 55th Regt, attacked several Russians who were plundering Lieutenant Colonel Carpenter, 41st Regiment, who was lying wounded on the ground. He killed two of the Russians, and protected Lieutenant Colonel Carpenter until the arrival of some men of the 41st Regiment.

Victoria Cross: Nov 5, 1854 at the Battle of Inkerman, Private Anthony Palmer, Grenadier Guards, with two other men were the first to volunteer to go with Brevet Major Sir Charles Russell to dislodge a party of Russians from the Sandbag Battery. The attack succeeded. During this action Private Palmer shot down an assailant who was in the act of bayoneting Russell, and so saved his life. He was also one of a small band which, by a desperate charge against overwhelming numbers, saved the Colours of the battalion from capture.

Victoria Cross: Lieutenant Frederick Miller RA, for having, at the battle of Inkerman, personally attacked three Russians, and with the gunners of his Division of the Battery, prevented the Russians from doing mischief to the guns which they had surrounded. Part of a Regiment of English infantry had previously retired through the Battery in front of this body of Russians

Victoria Cross: Second of three citations for Captain William Peel RN of the Naval Brigade. at the Battle of Inkerman, he joined some of the officers of the Grenadier Guards and helped to defend the Colours of the regiment when they were hard-pressed.
